Our weekly "Charts Don't Lie" feature follows the rise and fall of various hip-hop and R&B albums' sales, and one of the recent mainstays on there has been Pharrell's hugely successful sophomore album, G I R L. Thanks in part to his hit single "Happy," Skateboard P's new album has been certified Gold, with its sales just now topping the 500k mark.
At 41 years of age, Pharrell's only released one other album to date, 2006's In My Mind, but has made more of a name for himself as a producer and featured artists, rising to new heights of fame in 2013 with appearances on songs by Daft Punk and Robin Thicke.
Perhaps the success of G I R L will persuade Pharrell to focus more of his efforts on his solo career. Do you prefer him as a featured or solo artist?
