Last we heard concerning Kanye West's new album was that no, it wasn't entirely finished despite what Theophilus London had us believe. If you really want the low-down of all the things we know about the upcoming highly-anticipated much-rumored album, you can read this. Today we've got some new details that we could very well add to that list. G.O.O.D. Music's Malik Yusef has offered a description of Kanye's new album to Rolling Stone, and despite the pretty conceptual comparison, it sounds pretty good.
While talking to Rolling Stone, Malik Yusef said of 'Ye's Yeezus follow up,
"This album is different. It's like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede. It's not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it's not the ruggedness of just 'hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop.' We're still working like a motherfucker. We've been all around the world [recording]."
"Yeezus was a hard album to work on because it was a departure from where I wanted to be with our music," Yusef told Rolling Stone. "Kanye was very declarative in his statement of 'I don't want this to be a regular Kanye album. I don't want this to be what people are familiar with.'"
Yusef also revealed a few more interesting details, namely, that the single which GQ previously reported on, "All Day", may not even make the final album cut. As well, Kanye has recorded about 20 songs. "Your favorite title may not even make it on the album", Yusef said. "We fought over Yeezus every day," he told the publication, saying that this time around went much smoother. "There was no friendly disagreements. It was definitely a war. It's 'I don't give a fuck, Malik. It's a Kanye album, not a Malik Yusef album.' Kanye's kicked me off the label eight times."
We'll keep you posted on any new developments in the Kanye West album.
