Even though he had already squashed rumors of a new Clipse album last month, No Malice was recently asked about the project again in an interview with Rapzilla at SXSW. His answer was no different this time around, and this should definitely put all hopes of a new Clipse album to sleep.
"People keep asking me about this Clipse album. I've been very clear, I've been very consistent from the beginning. I don't know why I have to keep answering this question, but I don't do that music anymore. Do people want me to keep repeating my past life? What I would like to think is that my audience that grew up with me are still growing up. I can't cater to every generation that comes up under, it's like repeating the third grade over and over and over again. No, I'm somewhere else now. I am not doing another Clipse album -- being very clear."
He blamed a lot of this on his born-again Christian beliefs:
"Things that I used to really champion, I no longer do that. Things I used to have no trouble saying, things I used to have no trouble doing, now would definitely trouble me. I can't listen to the same music, I don't watch the same TV shows, and that's not me thinking I'm better or trying to do anything different. There were things that really wore against my spirit and in my soul, and I just want people to know that Jesus is real."
The Virginia Beach MC also discussed his recent album Hear Ye Him, which he said was inspired by the "spotless, pure blood of Jesus Christ." Prior to the project, he wasn't sure he would ever rap again, but decided he wanted to be "sharing my testimony, sharing my story, sharing my new life, and what better way to do it than with music?"
When asked if he had more music in his future, No Malice replied, "I may, I don't know. I've come to find out that I can't say what I'm doing next week, next year, next month, tomorrow, I don't know. I take everything day-by-day, and I just go where I'm led."
