It's been close to 15 years since D'angelo released his game-changing sophomore album, Voodoo, and while the long overdue follow-up has been hinted at since 2007, it seems it may finally come to fruition this year.
According to the singer's manager, Kevin Liles, the album has moved to the mastering stage, and the record will "definitely" be out in 2014.
"There'll be an album this year," he told Billboard. "There's 14 records so far, we might have a couple of bonus records, but all the recording is basically done and we're mixing and mastering now. Definitely, he'll be back.
Lile also confirmed a fall tour. "We'll probably start an international tour in October, we'll come back [to the States]," he revealed. "We're doing a James Brown tribute in August [at the Hollywood Bowl] and some one-off things. But the touring will probably start in October and 2015."
While this is great news, it should be taken with a grain of salt, as the album was apparently "97 percent done," in 2011, and "99 percent done" in January 2013.
You can't rush greatness. Do you think we'll finally see the long-anticipated record this year?
