Rihanna dips her feet in controversial waters on Twitter.

For those of us who pay attention to world news, there hasn't hotter topic over the past few weeks than the ongoing war between the Jewish nation of Israel and their neighbors to the east in Palestine. The war, ongoing for several decades at this point, reached new boiling points after three Israeli teens were kidnapped and murdered by two Palestinian men reportedly disguised as religious Jews. The Israeli government, meanwhile, has taken to firing missiles into the Gaza strip in response to Hamas' continued use of rockets across their borders. It's a very heated (read: controversial) issue that simply can't be covered fairly in a single article. That being said, according to a report by TMZ, Rihanna tackled her feelings on the issue in 140 characters.

Tweeting "#FreePalestine" last night on her official Twitter account, the pop star found herself in the cross-fire of arguing fans. In 8 minutes, she removed the tweet.

Now, her reps claim the message was sent in error. One source connected to the situation tells TMZ, "She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted," adding, "She didn't even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans."

The source says Rihanna was reading about the Middle East conflict online, clicked a link, and the next thing she knew her fans were asking her why she was pro-Palestine.

In response inquisitive fans, Rihanna tweeted a less bias message earlier today.
