In today's Instagram era, we've become desensitized to seeing photographs. The average internet user likely consumes dozens of photographs in a single sitting, to the point where iconic meetings have come to feel like fodder for additional likes and/or album promo. There's a certain mystique about preserved photographs from eras come-and-come, especially when they include larger-than-life figures, key players responsible for shaping hip-hop's history and canon. While the photographs taken by Al Pereira during a night at the Hollywood Palladium are not new, they remain an amazing reminder of three legendary lyricists in their prime.
Even Snoop Dogg, himself a legendary, borderline mythical hip-hop figure, can't help but marvel at this one. The Doggfather posted a picture of Nas, 2Pac, and Redman united as one, opting to go caption-free; better to leave it all to our imagination, perhaps. Check it out for yourself below.
Clearly, Snoop looks back fondly on the early nineties, which happens to be the era during which he came up. On that note, Dr. Dre recently took a trip down memory lane of his own, sharing a photoshopped assembly of hip-hop legends: "this is fu*kin' hip-hop." You can check that one out below. Whether real like the one Snoop shared, or imagined like Dre's, it's safe to say that Throwback pics are jewels for the wistful nostalgic types, myself among them. Any fans of the golden era out there?
