ScHoolboy Q released his major label debut, Oxymoron today, which features some pretty crazy production credits, including work from Pharrell, Mike WiLL Made It, Tyler, The Creator and DJ Dahi. One of the most interesting collaborations however is with Alchemist on "Break The Bank". In an interview with Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds, Q elaborated on the process of recording the song, revealing that he initially couldn't stand it.
"I hated ['Break The Bank'], then I slept on it," said ScHoolboy, explaining that the "la di da" melody started to annoy him. "[Then I] woke back up, turned it on. Me and Alchemist was like 'wow'. Within an hour I wrote the next two verses and the bridge."
Apparently, that's not the only record that came out of their sessions. "Me and Alchemist got like 5 records that nobody ever heard... nobody probably ever will hear," he revealed. "Me and Action [Bronson] got a record on his album too."
According to Q, you meet a lot of other rappers through Alch. "Mos Def, Action Bronson, Domo [Genesis] from Odd Future... Roc Marciano, Boldy James," he revealed were just a few of the people he's been introduced to in the process. "He's the reason me and Danny Brown did our first record too."
