Over the weekend, an act of misguided defiance and callous lack of empathy turned a Connecticut teenager by the name of Kaitlyn Renee into a figure of public ridicule. For reasons unknown (though largely chalked up to that old dangerous pain-in-the-ass, "clout"), Renee thought it wise to deface a Nipsey Hussle memorial mural and take a self-satisfied selfie.
Naturally, many quickly turned on the young lady, prompting her to respond with further rebellion. "Y’all really mad,” she wrote. “I ain’t boutta argue with none of y’all over some PAINTING. you know how much dope shit in heaven park gets painted over? Oh alright then hop off. Yah Boutta “kill” me over a painting. That shit is hilarious.”
Though her act was met with universal backlash citing the selfish nature of humanity, an artist by the name of Joey Batts came through to balance the scale. After seeing the vandalism caused by Renee, Batts took the time to fix up the mural, earning himself some major karmic points in the process. Respect to him for holding it down, and hopefully his resilience and optimism will deter any further acts of disrespect where Nip's mural is concerned.
