The response and sales for Mariah Carey's latest body of work, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse has been pretty lackluster, as we reported she initially sold 58,000 copies opening week, but quickly fell off the Billboard 200. It now has total sales of only 103,000 copies. Perhaps this has spurred Mariah to initiate a change in her career, starting with her management, it seems.
Reports come in today that Mariah has split with her collaborator Jermaine Dupri when it comes to management. Instead she'll be working with one of the co-founders of 300, Kevin Liles. Dupri released a short statement on the split, “I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work, I put my all into every project," he said. "But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future."
We'll have to wait and see where Mariah Carey takes her career next.
