UFC announces UFC 239 main event and co-main event.

Although Jon Jones has recently teased a much-anticipated bout against Stipe Miocic, the two former heavyweight champions will have to wait a little longer to step into the octagon together.

On Wednesday night, the UFC announced that Jones will put his Light Heavyweight title on the line against Thiago Santos in the main event of the UFC 239 PPV on July 6, scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Jones, 24-1, snatched the 205-pound title in December with a third-round TKO victory over Alexander Gustafsson. He successfully defended the title against Anthony Smith at UFC 235 on March 2, and the July bout with Santos will mark his third time in the octagon in the last seven months.

Santos (21-6) is 3-0 since moving up from the middleweight division, and he has won each of those three by way of KO/TKO.

The UFC 239 co-main event will pit two-division champion Amanda Nunes against Holly Holm for Nunes' bantamweight championship.

Nunes (17-4) stunned Cris "Cyborg" Justino in her last fight back in December, as she KO'd the former Featherweight champ in the first round to claim the 145-pound strap.

Holm is 12-4 in her career, and she has not fought since last June when she picked up a decision victory against Megan Anderson.
