With The Weeknd's "King of the Fall" tour about to get underway, we decided to pay homage to the groundbreaking r'n'b artist with a throwback to his debut House of Balloons. The Toronto native gave r'n'b music an entirely new sound with the release of House of Balloons, not to mention a new way of marketing an artist, however inadvertently. The singer was infamous for being mysterious, it was awhile before anyone really knew what he looked like, let alone personal details about him (save for what was said in his music). This has now become common procedure for new artists looking to break. He was also one of the first artists to receive that weighty Drake co-sign, which now equals instant fame.
While we await new music from Abel, reminisce to where you were when you first heard House of Balloons. If you're located in either NY or LA, we're doing a ticket giveaway for the sold out "King of the Fall" tour. Two lucky winners will win a pair of tickets for either market. Details here.
Quotable Lyrics
Let me see you dance
I love to watch you dance
Take you down another level
Get you dancing with the devil
Take a shot of this
But I'm warning you
I'm on that shit that you can't smell baby
So put down your perfume
