50 Cent talks about leaving Interscope to do his own thing over at Caroline.

50 Cent made a big announcement yesterday, as he departs from Interscope Records and heads down the independent path for himself and his G-Unit imprint over at Caroline, under Capitol Records. With the announcement came the release date for his Animal Ambition album, which was originally supposed to arrive prior to the delayed Street King Immortal album, although we've received no update on Street King Immortal just yet.

Nonetheless, when it comes to Animal Ambition, Fif has already started to kick things off with the release of a new song/visual today, "The Funeral" aka "50 Bars Pt. 2." It's a strong release from Fif with production from Jake One, creating anticipation for what's to come.

50 has spoken with Forbes about his departure from Interscope, and explains how he's looking forward to the freedom he'll have at Caroline.

"It’s freedom to invest in your own ideas," 50 said. "If ever I had a horse that I was betting on at the track, I’d like to be the horse. Let it be me, goddammit, because I’m going to run as hard as I can."

50 reveals to Forbes that his deal is structured similarly to that of Cash Money's, where Baby only hands over 7% of wholesale per album over to Universal, in exchange for distribution and support.

"I’m a special case and situation," he explained to Forbes. "It’s also because of the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don’t want to me to be uncomfortable. They value our friendship to the point that they would never want [to jeopardize] it over that little bit of money." He added, "If it wasn’t all under the Universal umbrella, it wouldn’t work."
