It's been a rough couple of days for Los Angeles Lakers star Lonzo Ball. News broke late last week that Big Baller Brand co-founder Alan Foster reportedly stole $1.5 million from Lonzo, which prompted him to ditch the family-run business. Ball even had BBB tattoed on his arm but now he's covered that up with some anatomically incorrect dice. It's all a big mess and it seems as though this is the beginning of the end for the Big Baller Brand.
ESPN's morning debate show Get Up had TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley on the show today to the discuss the Ball situation. In typical Chuck form, he was not amused by the antics of Lonzo's dad, Lavar, and had some pretty harsh words.
"Well, he should have been his own man from the beginning," Barkley said. "You can't let your family members try to piggyback on your success... This thing has been a disaster from Day 1 and it was never going to work. And I feel bad because it's this ol' big mouth, jacka- dad that's put his kids in an awkward situation all year. Like I said, I don't want to see anything bad happen to the kid, but I don't like his dad at all and this thing has been a joke from the beginning."
It's been a rough season for Lonzo who won't see any action for the rest of the year as he is rehabbing an ankle injury. The Lakers are also out of playoff contention with a record of 33-41.
