Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are headed to the NBA Finals for the fifth straight season, despite the fact that Kevin Durant has been sidelined with a strained right calf. In KD's absence, Curry has been absolutely stellar, averaging 36.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists in the Western Conference Finals, while shooting 46.9% from the floor, 42.6% from behind the arc.
The two-time NBA MVP, who received some criticism following a lackluster first two round of the playoffs, appears to have quieted the haters for the time being. That said, the true Curry supporters never really left.
According to his teammate Andre Iguodala, Curry is the second best player to ever lace 'em up.
“I think he’s the second best ever,” Iguodala said, according to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic. “I always thought that about him. I knew but other people didn’t know. So I wasn’t surprised when he took over that series. But I always gave Tony Allen credit. Playing against him made you understand the grind of how hard it is to win. It’s supposed to be hard. You’re supposed to have to find another way. It’s supposed to be uncomfortable. He just embraced that. Just ingrained that into his system and it’s been there ever since.”
Thompson later clarified that Iggy has Michael Jordan as the only player that ranks above Steph.
