The Lakers have high hopes despite all the noise.

Rob Pelinka has been in the news quite a bit recently especially in light of the recent revelations from Magic Johnson who put Pelinka on blast for backstabbing him. During a press conference, yesterday to introduce head coach Frank Vogel, Pelinka denied Magic's claims and also took the opportunity to talk about how confident he is in his Lakers. Despite the team finishing the season with a 37-45 record, the Lakers general manager firmly believes the squad is poised to win a championship in 2020.

"I think if people take a look at where this franchise is right now," Pelinka said, via ESPN. "We have a high draft pick. We have a great young core, maybe one of the best in the league. We have a superstar on our team, and an open slot. So, I think people can look at this as an opportunity to win a championship possibly next year."

These are interesting comments considering the team has been in complete disarray since Johnson left back in April. There have been rumblings of turmoil from within the Lakers front office and it appears as though things aren't getting any better. Regardless, Pelinka is remaining optimistic.

LeBron James will certainly be looking to add some help this offseason, a task that has been made more difficult thanks to these numerous controversies.
