WWE legend Mick Foley introduced a brand new "24/7" championship title during the May 20th edition of Monday Night Raw. Foley was a fitting choice to debut the new title, as it calls to mind the Hardcore Championship which he originally ushered in to the WWE back in 1998.
Similar to the Hardcore Championship, WWE superstars can challenge for the 24/7 title anytime, anywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as long as a WWE official is present. Last night alone, the belt switched hands three times.
Shortly after the title was revealed, Titus O'Neil secured the belt to become the first-ever 24/7 Champion - However, Robert Roode quickly regained control less than a minute afterward. His reign didn't last long either, as R-Truth pinned the 24/7 champ in the parking lot and vowed to take the strap to SmackDown Live.
WWE has also announced that the title will be eligible to Superstars on Raw, SmackDown LIVE, 205 Live, NXT, NXT UK and even WWE Legends and Hall of Famers, which could make for some interesting segments down the line.
The concept is cool, and WWE fans seem to like the idea, but the belt itself left something to be desired. The general consensus amongst wrestling fans on twitter is that the green belt is downright revolting.
