Recent news indicated the police launched an investigation after an anonymous tip hinted Wendy Williams was allegedly being poisoned. Rumors immediately tied Kevin Hunter, the talk show star's ex-husband, with the affair. However, according to Page Six, the police report revealed the tipster to be an affiliate of Williams' production company, Debmar-Mercury.

Upon hearing the news, Williams joked about this relating to suspicious cupcakes received. On the recently re-launched Youtube series After Show, which goes behind the scene with the talk show host post-screening, Wendy chimed in on being particularly cautious after an audience member offered her pastries. The television personality further detailed the situation, explaining that the baked goods were a gift from a female viewer who won Eye Candy of the Day.
The forenamed segment identifies an audience member whose outfit and overall looks appealed to either Wendy or the show's producers. Upon the announcement, the winners are often given a gift which varies per episode. As such, a previous victor of the title gifted Wendy with the cupcakes as a gesture of appreciation.
"I saw on the box it said cupcakes from The Cupcake Man or something like that in Jersey, and a legit place so I know they’re not poisonous, so I’m going to share them with the crew," shared Williams on the After Show.
