Northcutt underwent a nine-hour surgery.

Sage Northcutt made his ONE Championship debut last Friday and it ended in an absolute disaster. The fighter, who used to compete in the UFC, was knocked out in just 29 seconds by Cosmo Alexandre who landed a vicious punch with his right hand. After the fight, it was believed that he had suffered eight fractures in his face, an injury that required nine whole hours of surgery. As it turns out, his injuries were much more shocking than originally reported.

Northcutt's coach, Urijah Faber, spoke to TMZ about Northcutt's condition and explained that the fighter had his cheek shattered into 30 pieces as a result of the knock out.

"Dude got his face blasted, man," Faber said "His cheek shattered like an eggshell." The former UFC fighter and current coach also explained that what Northcutt went through was "40 times worse than any pain I've ever felt."

After his surgery, Northcutt took to Instagram where he praised all of the care he received and took the time to thanks his fans in the process.

"Fresh out of surgery...I had 8 fractures and a nine hour intense operation. Feeling blessed for the amazing care and all the support from @onechampionship, my family/friends and fans! My Terminator face is not too Shabby.. 💀“I’ll be back!” Next post is catheter removal😳...stay tuned-JK 😎 " Northcutt wrote."

Whether it be eight fractures or a shattered cheek, it's got to hurt either way.
