Reports are running rampant that Robert Pattinson will be the next Batman for DC and Warner Bros. The reports, coming from several news outlets all over the world, at first failed to mention one important fact. The deal has yet to be set in stone. While Pattinson is the front runner for the role, nothing has been made official. Although he is expected to take the role, Nicholas Hoult is also in the running to play the Caped Crusader. Hoult is no stranger to the comic book movie world since he played Beast in the X-Men movie series for the past 8 years. Now, The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Newsletter is reporting that two of Batman's most legendary villains are heading to the big screen for the DC reboot.
The newsletter claims that director Matt Reeves is eyeing both Penguin and Catwoman as villains for the film. Reeves has teased that the film will feature a “rogues gallery” of bad guys, and the script is reportedly based on the Year One comic series. In that comic, Batman is young and learning his way around crime fighting in Gotham. Many villains appear in the story, and Batman often does have to deal with a handful of enemies at once throughout his most epic tales. Penguin and Catwoman were both in the 1992 sequel Batman Returns, and Catwoman resurfaced for The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.
