Are you surprised? After the major haul from Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War last year, Captain Marvel was expected to do big numbers. Now, Ant-Man & The Wasp did decently at the box office last summer, raking in $622 million worldwide, but it looks like the shrinking hero can't keep up with the other contemporary Avengers' films. According to Variety, Captain Marvel brought in an astounding $87 million globally this weekend, which includes $52 million from international regions. The Brie Larson starring origin story has now garnered $589 million overseas for a global haul of $910 million. At the domestic box office, Captain Marvel brought in $35 million during its third weekend, bringing the North American haul to $320 million. While the domestic numbers aren't on par with Black Panther, the global pull has placed Carol Danvers right up there with T'Challa.

Captain Marvel now ranks as the 10th-biggest comic-book release of all time, surpassing the lifetime hauls of superhero movies such as Thor: Ragnarok ($854 million), Venom ($855 million), and Spider-Man: Homecoming ($880 million). While these numbers are impressive, we all know that next month's Avengers: Endgame will take the cake as the biggest comic book release of all time. Tickets have not gone on pre-sale yet for the Infinity War sequel, but once they do, expect Fandango and other competing sites to crash from all of the consumer frenzy.
