21 Savage's "Bank Account Campaign" Expands To Teach At-Risk Youth About Finances

The rapper first announced his youth initiative in early 2018.

We're only at the end of February and 2019 has been an intense journey for 21 Savage. The rapper has been both arrested and released from ICE custody, and his American freedom continues to hang in the balance. However, 21 Savage is making sure he continues his efforts in giving back to his community—Atlanta and beyond—by expanding upon his "Bank Account Campaign" named after his hit single.

In Spring 2018, the rapper appeared on The Ellen Show to not only give a performance of "Bank Account," but to share the vision behind his campaign. "I started the 21 Savage Bank Account Campaign and it's to help kids learn how to save money and make money, and open bank accounts for kids," he stated at the time. The announcement came after Stone Mound Meezy, 21 Savage's manager, tweeted that the rapper would be moving away from the bling lifestyle and investing his money in youth-orientated projects.

Here we are one year later, and 21 Savage is continuing with his initiative by helping to recruit 150 at-risk youth. The rapper will reportedly serve as the "Money Making Mentor," an advisor position. Each youth will receive lessons in financial management and will also be given employment, working at SunTrust Park and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

“While my #1 song was called 'Bank Account,' growing up, I knew almost nothing about bank accounts,” 21 Savage said in a press release. “As I have gotten smarter about financial management, I realize how empowering it is to control your money rather than be controlled by it. I want to help kids with a background similar to mine to get smart about their money.”
