50 Cent has quite a bit on his plate at the moment, a lot of which is actually centered around film and TV. Although Animal Ambition does seem to be a top priority, as he continuously drops off album leaks and music videos, he's also been working on an animated show for FOX and as well as an upcoming comedy, "Spy." This is in addition to executive producing a new TV show for Starz network, "Power" which finally has a premiere date.
We saw the official trailer for the drama series at the beginning of March, and for those anticipating when they might be able to catch the first episode, it'll air on June 7th at 9pm EST on Starz.
As we've previously reported, the show stars Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora and Lela Loren, while La La Anthony and 50 Cent also make appearances during the season. The premise of the show centers around a drug dealer-turned club owner, who wonders if he can run a legitimate business after initially opening the club to clean his money.
Tune in on June 7th.
[Update: "Power" Renewed For Second Season]
Well that was quick. Only after one episode, Starz' brand new series, "Power", has already been renewed for a second season.
The show is executive produced by 50 Cent and was debuted this past Saturday, June 7th, with over 2 million viewers watching the Starz show (including Saturday and Sunday reruns). 50 Cent released a statement expressing his investment in the drama.
"Power is a project extremely close to my heart and working with Chris Albrecht, Carmi Zlotnik and the Starz team has been the perfect fit for this. Viewers may be loving the start of season one now, but season two will blow them away". - Fif
The second season was ordered to air 10 episodes, which is two more than the current inaugural season.
Let it be known that the decision to pick the show up for a second season is actually a very common one for Starz though. Shows like "Boss", "Magic City", "Spartacus", and "Black Sails" all received orders for a second season before even a single episode of theirs had hit the airwaves. So this doesn't mean things will be all gravy, but for the time being they are.
Have you watched the first episode? If so, what you think?
