Khalid burst onto the scene a couple of years ago with American Teen and although the project didn't hit right away, it became a total sensation in the summer and throughout the last year. Khalid has completed his ascent into R&B superstardom, being recognized by major figures like Beyoncé, Barack Obama and others. He's a favorite for many and considering last year was a little quiet in terms of new music from the El Paso native, Khalid looks set on making 2019 his year.
We've previously heard "Talk," which acted as the lead-up single to today's announcement. Suncity was a nice little project but it's time for the singer to get locked and loaded, completing his sophomore album and announcing its release date today. The full-length follow-up to American Teen will be titled Free Spirit, a name that Khalid has toyed around with in the past. The young vocalist told his fans via social media that it would be dropping on April 5, unveiling the cover art and also setting a pre-order date in March.
The artwork sees Khalid standing on top of a van in the desert, his arms outstretched to truly portray the emotion in the album's title. Are you looking forward to seeing what kind of direction Khalid heads in this time around?
