Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are nominated for multiple Grammys tonight, some of which are for their same-sex marriage-promoting track, "Same Love". The duo will also be performing the cut, and they have a fairly ambitious stage setup planned.
34 couples of all different ethnicities and sexualities will be married onstage while the duo perform their hit. Lewis explains that the weddings “will be in our minds the ultimate statement of equality, that all the couples are entitled to the same exact thing.”
The beatmaker's sister will also be among those wed during the event. “A night that is already tremendous for me, for the music,” he said, “but to have my sister get married and my family there watching it—that makes it a whole other level of amazing.”
Madonna will be singing the hook, replacing the only actual member of the LBGT community involved in the song, Mary Lambert.
