Two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Eli Manning will be back under center for the New York Giants in the 2019 season.

At least, that's what head coach Pat Shurmur alluded to on Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine. According to ESPN, when asked specifically if he expects Eli Manning to be on the team in 2019, Shurmur said, "I fully expect him [back]."

"Well, I think Eli can help us win games, and he proved when the players around him started playing better that he can play at a very high level and help us win games, so at this point I want Eli back," Shurmur said from Indianapolis. "He's back."

"[General manager] Dave [Gettleman] will tell you I'm a body collector. I want to keep all the players we have and add new ones. I really feel that way about Eli," he said.

Manning, 38, will enter the final season of his contract in 2019.

The Giants, coming off a 5-11 season, own the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and there has been plenty of rumors about what they'll do with that pick, including selecting Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins.

Haskins, who grew up in New Jersey, recently told the media, “I would love it,’’ when asked about potentially sitting, and learning behind Eli Manning. Says Haskins, “I grew up watching Eli Manning back when he had [Jeremy] Shockey and [Amani] Toomer and Plaxico [Burress]. I loved that team.’’
