Tyler, The Creator's been banned from the U.K. for roughly four years at this point. However, a fan of the OF leader is taking a stance against the ban and urging the U.K. government to allow Tyler into the country.
A fan named Sam Roberts launched a petition demanding the U.K.government to reconsider their ban on Tyler, The Creator which was placed in 2015. Tyler was reportedly banned due to some of the graphic lyrics in his early music, specifically on projects such as Bastard and Goblin. The petition argues that Tyler's bars are "clearly intended as adult humor [and] hasn't incited violence," adding that "the artist has shown overwhelming growth since the record's release."
The petition's goal is to reach 10K signatures in order for the U.K. government to respond. If 100K people sign, the petition will be up for debate in Parliament. At the time of writing this article, the petition reached over 1800 signatures.
After announcing Tyler's ban, the U.K. government issued a statement.
"Coming to the UK is a privilege, and we expect those who come here to respect our shared values. The Home Secretary has the power to exclude an individual if she considers that his or her presence in the UK is not conducive to the public good or if their exclusion is justified on public policy grounds."
