Just yesterday, Solange was revealed as i-D mag's latest cover star for an editorial shoot where she posed as an "elegant masked intruder." Within hours of the editorial images coming to light, Solange doubled down on the media swarm to debut a new social networking page on BlackPlanet, a platform designed with the purpose of providing Black men and women an ideal space for networking and prevalent discussion.
The new page (right here) was uploaded with plenty of imagery suggesting a musical project might be moments away from hitting the press. Last year, Mrs. Knowles did acknowledge that a musical project lay in the incubator, and would be released sometime in 2019. That time seems to have come not a moment too soon, based on appearances alone.
Before this "new album" talk even came to pass, Solange went ahead and booked a string of festival appearances for 2019: Coachella, Primavera, and Bonnaroo, which again, point to her preparedness, and open her up to a series of questions surrounding her sudden availability. Solange spent the majority of 2018 laying the patchwork on this presumed album and by adding numerous acting credits to her resume. Are you psyched for the new Solange, if and when it does drop?
