Game Of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have been going through the wringer of late; at this point, it's only a matter of time before one of both utters a Gladiator-esque "Are You Not Entertained?!" In any case, their work on Game Of Thrones should not be dismissed, and in many ways, they feel like the perfect fit to write Disney's upcoming Star Wars film.

Though it may still be a ways away, with Disney's previously released schedule indicating a 2022 window, Hypebeast confirms that CEO Bob Iger is already setting his sights on the upcoming chapter. The news comes at a time where some fans have become vocally displeased with the current Star Wars direction, and may appreciate a "hiatus period"; absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they say.
Though it's not entirely clear if Benioff & Weiss will be directing the film as well (they're set to helm the upcoming Game Of Thrones finale), it's already been rumored to center around "The Old Republic." Anyone familiar with Knights Of The Old Republic likely remembers Darth Revan, Bastilla, Canderous, Carth, and a variety of beloved characters; such a complex tale of morality and betrayal would benefit greatly from Benioff & Weiss' hand. What do you think of this development?
