Radio shock jock Howard Stern and talk show host Wendy Williams have reportedly made up following Stern's harsh statements about his friend. Things went south between the two after Williams spoke about Stern on her show as she praised him for releasing his book before saying he's "so Hollywood right now."
"Since you've gone Hollywood, everything you say is so predictable," she previously said. "Every story is gonna be about, 'Oh, I love this one and then we went on their yacht.' He's a Hollywood insider now which sucks because you started like me, being of the people. But at some point, you sat behind the microphone for too long and now you are the people. It hurts." Stern was insulted by her words, so he verbally eviscerated her on his show in a long, expletive-filled rant.
“Jealous b***h...You are nobody to me,” Stern said. “You’ll never be me, Wendy. You’ll never be me. You can pretend to be me, you can pretend to be like me, but you’re not. You don’t have my wit and you don’t have my talent...You couldn’t have that career. You’re a fly...What evidence do you have that I’m Hollywood, honey?” he said. “I grew up a scumbag and I’m still treated like a scumbag." He added, “Broad doesn’t have an original thought in her goddamn head. She’s busy being Howard Stern.”
In a recent cover story for The Hollywood Reporter, Stern expressed regret for going at Williams so hard. "That was me at my worst. I thought she was saying that I was a piece of sh*t and I sucked. But as [I hear it] now, I don't see it as an offense at all. If 'Hollywood' means that I've evolved in some way and the show has changed, then yeah, she hit the nail on the head." He also said he's pulled his Williams-centered rant from reruns.
Williams acknowledged Stern's apology on her show, saying that she will always admire him and appreciated that he took the words off the airwaves for good. "Howard, you know what, if you never apologized to me ever in your life, you would still be one of the most influential people in shaping my career," she said. "You and Oprah, that's it." She added, "You'll never hear that [rant] on repeat. I love him."
