Some have sided with Drake when he complained about Rolling Stone replacing him on the cover for Philip Seymour Hoffman, in the wake of his passing. Others have cited that Drake was being insensitive in the matter as the acclaimed actor was much beloved by the public and his passing upset many, seeing the revised decision to put the Hoffman on the cover as appropriate.
Famed DJ, Questlove, however sides with Drake saying, in a series of tweets, that Rolling Stone "played with [Drake's] emotions." On the subject, he said:
"Man, [Drake] is a better man than i. RS can't be playing w/ someone's emotions like that. anytime we given a scrap that is historical," before adding in a later tweet, "No fair, RS. Do right by [Drake.] Why y'all acting like cover stories aren't the stuff that's made of dreams?”
Drake, who complained about the issue in a tweet he later deleted, later revised his stance on the matter, writing on his OVO blog:
"I completely support and agree with Rolling Stone replacing me on the cover with the legendary Phillip Seymour Hoffman," Drake said. "He is one of the most incredible actors of our time and a man that deserves to be immortalized by this publication. My frustration stemmed from the way it was executed. The circumstances at hand are completely justifiable [on the magazines behalf], but I was not able to salvage my story or my photos and that was devastating. They ran the issue without giving me a choice to be in it or not. I would have waited until it was my time because I understand the magnitude of the cover they chose, but I just wasn't given that option and that made me feel violated."
Do you agree with Questlove or do you feel Rolling Stone was being fair?
