Though he may have just turned forty-three, Rick Ross will forever be Yung Renzel in our hearts. Yesterday, hip-hop's official boss celebrated another year of life, leaving us fans to look back on his legacy with a nostalgic eye. The rapper, who once went by the moniker of Teflon Da Don, has come a long way, both as an artist and entrepreneur. Many casual fans went from brushing off the boss to hanging on his every word. Before long, everybody in the game was vying to collaborate with Rozay.
Now, his hustler's ambition has paid off in spades, and the rapper continues to bide his time for the upcoming Port Of Miami 2. Though it really has been a minute since we've heard new music from Ricky, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate him all the same. Of course, the feeling is shared by many in the game, including friends and collaborators like Fabolous and MMG's own Meek Mill. Yesterday, both rappers took to Instagram to celebrate Rick's life, sharing a few heartfelt thoughts to the big homie.
Of course, Meek and Ross recently collaborated on the stellar "What's Free," which found Ross at his current best, doling out wisdom and brutal insight with a hardened sense of gravitas. Happy belated, Renzel!
