February 24th has officially been designated at “Meek mill Day” in the city of Houston.
It was while the Philadelphia-bred emcee made a stop in the southern city of his Motivation Tour that he was gifted with the official proclamation in conjunction with a show at the city’s Revention Music Center.
"Life is a rollercoaster," he penned under a post.
TMZ reports that the decision to gift Meek with the day was, in part, due to the rapper’s vocal advocacy for criminal justice reform, an initiative that particularly took off when he received a sentence of two to four years back in 2017 for violating his probation.
While In Houston, Meek stopped by the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department to speak to a group of young boys, touching own his own life experiences and cautioning the group to learn from his mistakes.
"If you want to go to the penitentiary and live that life, do that,” he said. “But if you want to be somebody and you don’t want to fall victim to that—because we’ve got millions of people who look like us that have done that already—then listen to the voice and make the right choices at the right time."
