As YMCMB continue to expand their business, choosing to sign artists who not only represent hip-hop but other genres as well, it looks like they want to step outside of the music industry all together. Following in the footsteps of Jay Z, the Cash Money label is looking to launch their very own sports agency.
Cash Money Records recently filed trademark applications for their new business venture, which they're hoping to call "Visionaire Sports Group." According to documents filed this past October with the the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, "Visionaire Sports Group" will relate to "sports agency services, namely, management, representation and promotion of professional athletes; business management of sports people; talent recruiting services in the field of sports."
According to Inside The League, the Young Money family may be looking to take on athletes to represent as early as the beginning of 2014. Lil Wayne's Young Money Records has apparently already invested in an already existing sports agency, Play 2 Win Sports, Inc.,-- thus it remains unclear whether Cash Money or Young Money are looking to team up with an existing agency or make waves with one of their own. Only time will tell.
In recent times, YMCMB's Drake recently took on a role in the sports world, becoming the creative consultant for his hometown's team the Toronto Raptors.
