Rest in peace, Doris Day.

We recently reported on the unfortunate passing of Peggy Lipton this weekend. The renowned actress dimmed her light following a lenghty battle to cancer. As such, we continue to keep the Lipton family in our prayers, along with her daughters Kidada and Rashida Jones. Sadly, Hollywood experienced another major loss today with the passing of yet another talented and iconic movie star, Doris Day. According to KTLA, the famed actress died at the age of 97, surrounded by close friends and family at her Carmel Valley, California home.

Doris Day was a notable icon amidst the Classical Hollywood film era with both a rich and successful twenty-year career as a movie actress. Her presence on screen and honey-dew voice encouraged her involvement in noteworthy films, musicals, comedies, and dramas. Of the latter, we count the song "Que Sera Sera" in addition of movies Calamity Jane, Pillow Talk and Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much. Along with honing her status as a film legend in the 50s and 60s, she moved onto becoming a talk-show host with The Doris Day Show which aired from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. The distinguished star and stunning blonde garnered a plethora of awards in her living which included the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award along with a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Rest in peace, Doris Day.
