We all know how the LeBron James show plays out. As a Laker fan, I was nervous about James coming to Los Angeles. Of course, James is a future Hall Of Famer and arguably the best player of this generation. Still, wherever Lebron goes, management drama follows. James has the power to move front offices around and influence the hiring and firings of everyone within an organization. Now, it's being reported that James' team isn't happy with Lakers Coach Luke Walton, and nobody in LA is shocked. It was only a matter of time before Lebron's influence and his winning mentality would begin to take control of the Lakers.
"It's clear to me, and probably to you, Brian, that LeBron's camp would prefer a coaching change - they're not too subtle about that," said ESPN's Jackie MacMullan on Friday's Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast. "Not LeBron, but all the people around LeBron. There's plenty of them and they've made it known. I don't think this is a shock, is it?" Stephen A. Smith did predict this months ago.
"There's a lot of tension in that building," MacMullan continued. "I think people are wondering about Luke Walton, even though (owner and president) Jeanie Buss came out very strongly and said, 'I want Luke to be here, I back him 100 percent,' but then also made the point that has to be made—and that is that she hired Earvin 'Magic' Johnson to make these decisions."
