After falling off the project two years ago, John Singleton is back in his rightful position. According to Variety, the director behind the famous "Boyz N The Hood" film has just signed back on to not only direct, but to re-write and produce the forthcoming biopic on Tupac Shakur.
The long-awaited film is expected to show the rise of one of rap’s biggest all-time artists, Tupac Shakur, as well as his still-unsolved murder from 1996. Production for the film is slated to begin this Summer in June, although casting for Tupac has not taken place.
Singleton is no stranger to Pac however. The "2 Fast 2 Furious" director worked with Tupac in the 1993 film Poetic Justice, which also featured Janet Jackson. Singleton had this to say about Pac:
"Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,” Singleton said. “His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.”
In September, it was announced that Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Films were in final negotiations to partner on the Tupac biopic.
Who do you think should take on Tupac's role?
