Three seasons and 48 episodes after Star first aired on FOX back in 2016, the network has decided to cancel the musically-driven series. Just days ago season three's season finale aired with fans hoping that another season was on the horizon, but unfortunately, FOX has chosen to move on to other options.
The show starred Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady, Queen Latifah, Quincy Brown and Amiyah Scott, and centered around three singers and their dramatic introduction to the fame they desperately desired. "I'm telling the story of a girl group, the formation of a girl group," Daniels said of his show. "So as opposed to making it just [Star's] story I was determined because I was so afraid that this show was going to implode, so I made it this girl group story." The Daniels and Tom Donaghy-created hourlong drama wasn't given the boot because of ratings, according to reports. The cancelation was due to Disney’s $71. billion merger with the network.
FOX also canceled The Passage, The Cool Kids, and Lethal Weapon. They've renewed Empire, 9-1-1, The Resident, Family Guy, Last Man Standing, Bob's Burgers, and The Simpsons. The network is also bringing in a slew of new series including Deputy, Next, Prodigal Son, Outmatched, Duncanville, The Great North, and Bless the Harts.
