The "Fashion Nova X Cardi B Collection" launch was the place to be in Hollywood earlier this week as celebrities gathered to celebrate the rapper's line with the online retailer. One of the many familiar faces at the event was Dennis Graham, rapper Drake's father, who took a few minutes to speak with PEOPLE about his son's introduction into fatherhood.
Drake and French adult film star-turned-professional visual artist Sophie Brussaux welcomed their son Adonis into the world a year and a half ago, and since that time the Scorpion rapper has done his best to keep his firstborn out of the limelight. There have been memes, jokes, and jabs about Drake's parenting abilities since it was made public that he's a parent, but Graham assures PEOPLE that his son is doing a wonderful job.
"This is brand new," Graham said. "The baby is only 17 months. He hasn’t had a lot of time [with him], but the baby loves him...I’ve seen them interact together, and it’s beautiful." Graham was asked if he offered Drake any parenting advice, but the proud father said Drake was doing just fine on his own. “He didn’t need it. He’s got love in his heart.”
Back in October 2018, the rapper shared a few details about his little boy on LeBron James' HBO series The Shop saying, “[He has] crazy blue eyes — baby blue eyes. He’s already in the pool shooting the basketball...I’m just excited,” Drake also shared that he's drawing from “all of the things I’ve learned from and through my father and the incredible things I’ve learned through my mother about patience, about unconditional love.”
