While the Golden State Warriors are the favorites to win the NBA Title for a third-straight year, the team hasn't been without its fair share of problems. No matter how good a team is, it is sure to go through some trials and tribulations. Prior to the Warriors game on Saturday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, they had dropped six of their last four games. One of those losses was an embarrassing 115-111 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns, who are the last place team in the Western Conference.
The Warriors were able to bounce back against the Thunder thanks to a 110-88 victory which reinforced how good the Warriors really are when they are playing their best. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr explained how the loss against the Suns was a bit of a wake-up call.
"I think the loss to Phoenix opened our eyes a little bit," Kerr said according to Sporting News. "And I think our guys just felt threatened on the road. We've played two great teams, we've got another one, maybe the hottest team in the league in San Antonio coming up, so anytime they're threatened, I think our guys tend to play better."
Kevin Durant has been out with an ankle injury as of late but Steph Curry has been picking up the slack, as he scored 33 points on Saturday.
Golden State has clinched a playoff spot with just 14 games left to play.
