The New York Jets vs New England Patriots hate knows no bounds.
Although the Patriots are currently gearing up for yet another Super Bowl title, their mascot, Pat Patriot, was patrolling the sidelines during the Pro Bowl festivities this week. That's when he encountered New York Jets safety Jamal Adams, who pounced at the opportunity to put ole Pat on his foamy back.
Initial reports suggested the man inside the mascot suit went to the hospital following the hit. However, the Boston Herald reports a Patriots spokesman told WEEI that the person in the costume didn't go to the hospital, though he did require on-site medical attention and was shaken up by the hit.
“I didn’t hit him that hard, man. All jokes aside, I didn’t hit him that hard. I don’t know what’s really going on, but they did tell me he’s in the hospital,” Adams told ESPN. “My intention was never to hurt him. It was all about just a joke but I definitely want to check on him and make sure everything is good.”
Adams later told ESPN's Dianna Russini, "They're not happy with me right now. The NFL is calling my phone, blowing me up, saying that, you know, I put him in the hospital so ... I gotta go check on him, make sure he's OK. But do I regret it? NO!"
