Megatron one step closer to owning his own marijuana dispensary.

Former Detroit Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson has reportedly cleared a hurdle in his quest to own and operate his own medical marijuana dispensary.

According to The Detroit Free Press' Kathleen Gray, Johnson has received preliminary approval for a Michigan medical marijuana license for a dispensary. His wife, Brittney, was also approved for prequalification status on a 4-0 vote Thursday, according to the report.

Johnson was denied a license back in December for a medical marijuana dispensary, grow operation and processing facility in Webberville, Michigan. Part of the reason for that was because the All-Pro receiver had some 10-year old unpaid traffic tickets issued in Atlanta.

"When Johnson learned of the tickets and the warrant that had been issued because they remained unpaid, he flew from Detroit to Atlanta to take care of the matter. That was enough to get the board to approve his prequalification application for a dispensary, operating under the name of Michigan Community Collective."

“Calvin is grateful and looks forward to operating with his brand Primitive in this new venture,” Johnson’s attorney Michael Stein told the Free Press. “He’s hoping to have a big presence in the state.”

Johnson, 33, unexpectedly retired from the NFL in 2015, following amidst run of six straight Pro Bowl nods.
