JK Rowling upset several Harry Potter fans 12 years ago when she announced that Albus Dumbledore was a gay man, and she's taking it a step further now. The Crimes Of Grindelwald hit theaters last year and it has now arrived in digital format for those who wish to watch it in the leisure of their own home. While the movie does touch on their romantic relationship it does not dive into the intricacies of their love for each other. In extra footage that comes with the digital purchase, Rowling further elaborates on the relationship.
"Their relationship was incredibly intense. It was passionate, and it was a love relationship," states Rowling. "But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can't know, you can believe you know." She didn't stop there though. "So I'm less interested in the sexual side -- though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship -- than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships," she added. Although she does admit she's more concerned with highlighting the emotional aspect of their relationship, the revelation that there was a sexual relationship between the two has sent many fans (on both sides of the deabte) of the films into a frenzy. While some LGBTQ members feel like JK Rowling is milking the relationship to get more fans, others believe the new revelation was unneeded for other reasons.
