Walton was fired by the Los Angeles Lakers last week.

Luke Walton faced a ton of rumors this year about his demise in Los Angeles. This was because his Lakers were not having a good season despite adding LeBron James to the roster. Eventually, the Lakers and Walton finally decided to part ways and the Lakers have been looking for a head coach ever since. Meanwhile, Walton's name has been brought up in regards to the Sacramento Kings, who recently fired head coach Dave Joerger despite finishing with a record of 39-43, their best in 13 seasons.

Today, the Kings confirmed that Luke Walton will be their head coach moving forward. In a statement on the team's website, general manager Vlade Divac explained how happy they are to have Walton on board.

“I have known Luke for many years and I am so excited to welcome him and his family to the Sacramento Kings,” Divac said. “I look forward to his leadership on the court as we work to build a winning culture for many years to come.”

The terms of the deal have not been made public as per the team's rules. It will be interesting to see how Walton does with the franchise considering they have struggled to make the postseason over the past decade.
