Le'Veon Bell got some good news this past week after the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they would not use the franchise or transition tag on the running back. This means that Bell is free to become a free agent as of March 13th when the NFL offseason officially begins. If you remember, Bell sat out the entire 2018 season due to a contract dispute and has been open about how unhappy he is with the Steelers organization. He's not the only one, considering Antonio Brown just forced his way out of Pittsburgh with the news that he will be traded.
One of the teams that have been rumored to want Bell is the New York Jets. However, it appears they might be worried about signing Bell according to a report from the New York Daily News that says Bell actually gained quite a bit of weight during his year off.
"Word on the street is that Bell, who's playing weight is about 225 pounds, ballooned to around 260 pounds at one point during his year-long hiatus," journalist Manish Mehta wrote. "There's a fair amount of concern from the Jets about what kind of shape he's in at the moment."
The Jets did substantially worse than the Steelers this season as they finished with a record of 4-12.
