Earlier today Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer reported that "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey could be stepping away from WWE after Wrestlemania 35 in April.
While there remains a possibility that Rousey takes some time off so she can focus on starting a family with husband, Travis Browne, Meltzer also notes that she will "probably remain affiliated with the company" after Wrestlemania.
In fact, a WWE spokesperson tells TMZ Sports, "Ronda Rousey is under contract with WWE until April 10, 2021. Whether she wants to start a family is a private matter."
Wrestling Observer's report states: "There was a decent amount of talk this past week internally, since we heard it from several people, that Rousey would finish up at WrestleMania. That may not be decided as that aspect is just the feeling people had since it’s the logical ending everyone came to based on the situation. As of today, this was the plan."
ProWrestlingSheet described Rousey's rumored time off from WWE as a planned "break," though nothing is definite.
Rousey won the Raw Women's championship at SummerSlam in August by defeating Alexa Bliss and she has held the title ever since. She'll put that title on the line against Sasha Banks at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV at Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona on Sunday, January 27.
She is expected to retain the strap, setting up a match against Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, or possibly both, at Wrestlemania 35 in April.
