Memphis Bleek was always Jay Z's right hand man, but despite his massive co-sign he never really broke through. The two have remained friends throughout their careers either way, and Jay displayed his loyalty to Bleek very openly on his verse from Kanye West's "Diamonds" remix.
"Bleek could be one hit away his whole career
As long as I'm alive he's a millionaire
And even if I die he's in my will somewhere
So he could just kick back and chill somewhere
Oh yeah, he don't even have to write rhymes
The Dynasty like my money last 3 lifetimes"
Bleek however, has revealed that he was less than thrilled about the shout out, in an interview with ThisIs50.
"I don't like that line. That line put a stamp on my career." he said, explaining that it's harder to get DJs to play his records since the verse. "I feel people look at me like Jay is just taking care of me. People take it literally, like I'm just chilling somewhere, I'm not working. As you can see, I'm here. I gotta work."
The rapper reiterated that he does feel that Jay will back him, but he still wants to take care of his own family. "I'm pretty sure he got me taken care of," he said, but added, "My son don't wanna hear Hov got us. He wanna hear dad got us."
