The athletes in the NBA are tired of hecklers taking their trash talking too far. We've seen the fallout from the Russell Westbrook situation where a fan pushed him to the point of confrontation. That fan was banned for making racist comments, but racial taunts aren't going away anytime soon. The Detroit Piston's big man Blake Griffin found himself at the receiving end of a racial taunt back in December, which led to a viral moment. At the time, all the information we had was based on the footage of Blake being restrained while a fan was removed from a game. Now, it has been revealed that a racial comment is what sent Blake into a frenzy.
According to Pistons reporter Vince Ellis, the interaction began when the heckler called Blake "boy." "Being called "boy" is what triggered Blake Griffin's confrontation with a Timberwolves fan earlier this season," wrote Ellis on Twitter. His tweet was originally a repost of an article that highlights the Utah Jazz organization banning the heckler who made racial comments towards Westbrook. "A young man and his wife in the stands told me 'to get down on my knees like you used to,'" explained Westbrook of the now viral confrontation. "To me, that’s just completely disrespectful, to me, I think it’s racial, and I think it’s inappropriate."
