On Tuesday night, the Cleveland Browns shocked the football world when they acquired superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants. With the addition of OBJ, the Browns have developed a high-powered offense which is complemented by another star wide receiver in Jarvis Landry. Landry and OBJ will have a ton of chemistry as they are best friends and played together at LSU. Perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the trade though is quarterback Baker Mayfield who will get to throw to the two.
While talking to the media, Mayfield explained just how excited he is to get to play with such talented receivers.
"You just let them be themselves and make plays. That's who they are and when it comes down to it, the guys in that locker room, you're going to love playing with them," Mayfield said according to ESPN.
OBJ and Landry are known as big personalities but as far as Mayfield is concerned, that doesn't matter. He's heard great things about Odell and is confident he'll be a great teammate.
"I know from Saquon (Barkley) and Sterling Shepherd (of the Giants), who I'm very close with, I know exactly who OBJ is inside the locker room and who he is to his teammates," Mayfield said. "That's the most important thing. People can have their attitudes and perspective on it, but he's himself and he also, he has his teammates' back."
The Browns finished last season with a record of 7-9-1.
