Uproxx is reporting that Vince Staples and DRAM will star in their acid trip-induced Adult Swim cartoon. Get this: Lazur Wulf is centered around a wolf who's got a giant laser cannon stitched on its back, voiced by the irreverent charmer himself, Vince Staples. The Long Beach rapper will be joined by a cast that includes fellow hip-hopper DRAM, WWE wrestler Big E, and comedienne Quinta Brunson, among others.
Lazer Wulf is the creative genius of Henry Bonsu, who also takes on an executive producer role within the project. Daniel Weidenfeld and Carl Jones, the co-creator of The Boondocks animated series will join him in that capacity, as will Vince Staples, his sense of humor a major selling point at this stage of the rollout.
Wulf's animation handled in a cutesy fashion, in the words of writer Aaron Williams. The overall aesthetic that's been chosen for Vince's beastial character beckons to minimalist influences, whereas the script writing falls in line with what's expected of Adult Swim's stoner ilk. Staples and DRAM follow a long line of hip-hop artists who've lent a hand at Adult Swim programming, the likes of which include T-Pain, MF DOOM, Run The Jewels, and Tyler the Creator. Will you be tuning in for Lazer Wulf's premiere on April 7?
