The Russo Brothers confirm an LGBT presence in the MCU, though lacking greater specificity.

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame continues its run as the world's most successful movie, and many fans have taken to debating the film's merit in hindsight. Now that the dust has settled, The Russo Brothers have begun a press-run, hitting up EW for a quick conversation. During the interview, the pair reveal that Marvel intends on having a character come out of the closet in an upcoming fan, alluding to it being a well-known character at that.

When reflecting on his own cameo in the film--Joe Russo portrayed a grieving gay man who ultimately went on his first post-Snap date--he suggested that another known character remains in the closet, at least for now. "There’ve been insinuations about other characters’ sexuality, but [the grieving man] is the first openly gay character," he mentions. When asked for further clarification about the closeted character's identity, Joe plays coy. "We’re gonna find out! There is a gay character coming up in one of their films, and I think Kevin will make that announcement, I’m sure pretty soon."

Though Marvel has already been teasing a gay character in The Eternalsit's curious that the Russo Brothers are teasing a big reveal of an existing character's sexuality. Some have already drawn comparisons to J.K. Rowling's Dumbledore, and the theories have been flying as expected. Valkyrie, Bucky, and Captain Marvel have been named as possible candidates, though should one decide to look to the deeper corners of the fan fiction community, the doors of possibility widen beyond the realm of possibility.
